The insurance claims process, handled end to end.

A serious claim moves through a predictable set of steps. Missing any one of them costs the policyholder time or money. Here is how we run it, from the first call through to the final invoice.

Step 1

Free consultation

We take your details on the phone or in person, read your policy, and look at what has happened. If we do not think you need us, we will say so. If we do think there is a claim worth pursuing, we will explain what representation would look like and what it would cost.

  • Same day call back during opening hours
  • Policy read and initial cover check
  • Honest view on merits, no pressure to appoint

Step 2

Site visit and evidence gathering

We attend the property with a photographic and video record of the damage, room by room. We open up where we need to, we call in specialist surveyors where the loss demands it, and we build a full schedule of loss for buildings, contents and, where relevant, alternative accommodation.

  • Detailed photo and video record
  • Structural, drying, electrical or forensic surveyors instructed as needed
  • Contents schedule with values and evidence
  • Alternative accommodation arranged early where the property is uninhabitable
Step 3

Presentation and negotiation

We present the claim to the insurer and their loss adjuster with a properly costed scope of works, and we argue the parts they push back on. Where the insurer is slow, we push for interim payments so that reinstatement can start. Where they are wrong on cover or scope, we challenge it with evidence.

  • Formal presentation to the loss adjuster
  • Interim payments negotiated early
  • Written challenges to under-scoping or coverage disputes
  • Escalation to insurer complaints and the Financial Ombudsman where warranted

Step 4

Reinstatement and settlement

We tender and appoint contractors, supervise the works, and agree the final account with the insurer before the file is closed. Where you prefer a cash settlement instead of reinstatement, we negotiate that too.

  • Contractors tendered and appointed
  • Works supervised through to snag and sign-off
  • Final account agreed with the insurer
  • Cash settlement negotiated as an alternative where preferred

Common questions about the timeline

The right answer depends on the specific policy and the specific loss. These are the ones we hear most often.

In most cases we can attend within 24 to 72 hours of instruction. For major losses where safety, security or drying is critical, we can prioritise same-day attendance.
A modest escape of water claim can settle inside three months. A serious fire or flood claim commonly runs six to eighteen months from incident to completed reinstatement. Business interruption sits on top of that and is settled against the indemnity period in the policy.
We challenge the decision in writing with evidence, escalate through the insurer’s internal complaints process, and if that fails, refer the matter to the Financial Ombudsman Service. Most disputes are resolved without going that far.
Usually no. Once we are appointed, we deal with the adjuster on your behalf. If there is a point where your input is genuinely needed, we set that up and prepare you for it.
